4th Annual Christmas Lights Contest

The Hillsboro Convention and Visitor’s Bureau is having an outdoor Christmas Lights Decorating Contest. Enter by Dec. 12. Judging will happen on Dec. 14 & 15 from 5-10 p.m. To register, sign up at the city office.

Ryder Cancer Benefit Dec. 8

A cancer benefit will be from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8 for Roger Ryder who was recently diagnosed with stage 3 pancreatic cancer. The free-will offering potato bar meal will be at the Zion Lutheran Parish Hall at 106 N. Lincoln St. in Hillsboro.

Marion Co Democrats Meeting Dec. 1

The Marion County Democrats will meet at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1 in the Conference room of the Marion Community Center.

There will be election of officers for the next two years. All democrats are urged to attend this meeting.

Night in the Barn on Dec. 1, 2, 8 & 9

Night in the Barn: Everyone is invited to attend and experience Night in the Barn, presented by Tabor Mennonite Church from 5 – 8 pm during the first two weekends in December (Dec. 1 & 2 and Dec. 8 & 9). Please note the new location of Papa’s Pumpkin Patch located just off of K-15 between Newton and Goessel.

Come and interact with the characters, animals, sights and sounds of this timeless tale. Enjoy this walking tour of the Nativity with family and friends. The suggested donation of $5 per person includes a hot drink and snack. Come and share in the wonder of the Christmas Story!

Developmental Screening Dec. 11

A free developmental screening for children birth through five years old on Tuesday, Dec.11 in Goessel.

At the screening, development will be checked in the areas of cognitive, motor, speech/language and social/emotional. Vision and hearing will also be screened.

Appointments will be available from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. All children are welcome, but an appointment is necessary.

Dance Clinic for youth on Dec. 8

The Hillsboro Recreation Commission and Tabor College Cheer Squad are sponsoring a one-day Dance Clinic from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8 at the Tabor College Recreation Center (CRC). This Dance Clinic is for youth ages 3-years up to and including 10-year olds.

There will be a performance later in the evening at the halftime of the Tabor College Women’s home basketball game vs Bethany College.
