Annual Christmas Home tour in Marion

Marion City Library’s Annual Christmas Home Tour will be from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 2.

Homes on the Tour are Ed and Jean Hett at 68 Lakeshore Dr, David and Jami Mayfield at 515 S. Lincoln, Arline and Gina Overton at 126 N. Roosevelt and Kelly and Susan Robson at 811 S. Roosevelt.

Refreshments served at the Marion City Library.

Tickets $5 each may be purchased at the Library or at the homes on the day of the tour.

Hillsboro Rec hosting Open Gym

The Hillsboro Recreation Commission will be sponsoring Open Gym on Wednesdays, starting Nov. 14, from 7- 9 p.m., and on Sundays, starting Nov. 18, from 2-5 p.m.

Open Gym is for both youth and adult basketball players who would like to play in pick-up games or just practice shooting.

Please bring a separate set of clean basketball shoes to wear on the gym floor and you must provide your own basketball.

Available Angel Tree Applications

Hillsboro Angel Tree applications are now available. They can be picked up at the Hillsboro State Bank, USD 410 schools and at Hillsboro churches.

The forms are due to Hillsboro State Bank by Nov. 30. They are to be filled out by the person applying and can’t be submitted on another person’s behalf.

Durable power of attorney workshop

The Marion County K-State Extension and Marion Co Dept on Aging is sponsoring a presentation by Paul Shipp, Attorney with Kansas Legal Services on “What is a Durable Power of Attorney?”

There will be a general discussion about Durable Power’s of Attorney Generally along with what it is, why useful, who needs it, who can be one, how to choose one and revocation.

This presentation will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15, at the Marion Senior Center.

There is no cost to attend but we ask you to register by calling K-State Extension office at 620-382-2325 by Wednesday, Nov 14.

Soil Health Day workshop in McPherson

A Soil Health Day will be on Thursday, November 15th at Brian Crowther’s Farm, 1613 Pawnee Rd, McPherson.

There will be discussions and demonstrations of Tire Tanks and Solar Pumps, Electric Fence Options, and Utilizing Cover Crops for Grazing.

There is no fee, and lunch will be provided. Please RSVP for an accurate lunch count by calling Karen Borcherding at 785-825-8269 ext 337.

This event has been sponsored by the Kansas Division of Conservation, the City of Wichita, K-State Research and Extension, and the Conservation Districts of Harvey, McPherson and Saline Counties.

Santa Claus coming to Florence Dec 1

Santa will be coming to Florence for his annual Christmas visit at 6 p.m. on December 1 at the Dale Miller meeting room. Kids come visit with Santa and enjoy the refreshments!

Trash Cart survey for Hillsboro residents

The City of Hillsboro is conducting a trash and recycling cart size survey. Residential trash customers of Hillsboro are encouraged to visit city hall on Nov. 12-17 to view carts on display in order to determine what size would best fit your household’s needs.

Annual Thanksgiving meal Nov. 18

Florence United Methodist Church will be hosting their annual Community Thanksgiving meal at 6 p.m. on Sunday evening, Nov 18 at the Florence Masonic Center.

Everyone is invited to come and bring a potluck dish for the meal. Turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and drinks will be furnished.

Come visit with your friends and neighbors and enjoy a Thanksgiving meal together!

Open Prescription Drug Enrollment

The Marion Co Department on Aging will once again be assisting people during Open Prescription Drug Enrollment. The Department will be taking appointments in Marion through Dec. 7 from 8-4:30 p.m.

Please call 620-382-3580 to make an appointment at our office.

Gayla Ratzlaff will also be assisting people in Hillsboro on November 29. Call Hillsboro Senior center (620-947-2304) to schedule on these days.

Ratzlaff will also be in Goessel on November 20. Call the Dept on Aging to schedule these appointments.
