Math tutor available in Marion

Mr. Molleker will be available to tutor math students from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesdays and 6-7p.m. on Thursdays. The sessions will be held at the Marion City Library.

Appointments must be made in advance by called in the Marion City Library at 620-382-2442.

The library is located at 101 Library St in Marion.

Celebration at Marion Sr. Center Oct. 18

The Senior Citizens of Marion County, Inc. invites all individuals to join them in celebrating their beginning 58 years ago. The celebration is taking place on Thursday, Oct. 18 at the Marion Senior Center.

Registration will begin at 11 a.m. The Friendship Meal will be served at 12 and the program beginning at 12:45 p.m.

This year the Senior Citizens of Marion County are honoring 4 county woodworkers. The speak will be Jerry Keen, woodworker from Wichita, KS. He is a member of the Sunflower Woodworkers’ Guild in Wichita.

The free will offering this year will go towards establishing a scholarship for a 2019 Marion County Senior going into related field to aging such as medicine, social work, therapies (physical, speech, occupational, recreational) gerontology and psychology.

Please contact the Marion County Dept on Aging or your local senior center to register for this even. Cost of registration is $5.25 per person and you must register by Tuesday, Oct. 9 in order to attend.

FPL fundraiser held on Oct. 8

The Florence Public Library will be hosting a fund raiser at 5 p.m. on Oct. 8 at the library.

A pulled pork meal will be served for a freewill offering.

Net proceeds will be divided with the Florence Fire Department. Last month’s fundraiser was divided with the Florence Masonic Lodge.

Give blood, help save lives

There will be a Hillsboro Community Red Cross Blood Drive at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church, 300 Prairie Pointe, on Monday, October 22nd from 1-6pm.

Appointments can be made online at www.redcrossblood.org or at 800-RED-CROSS.

Be sure to bring your photo ID and drink plenty of water before your appointment.

A light meal will be served to all donors.

Walk-ins are also welcome!

Elgin Wine, Cheese and chocolate tasting

General admission tickets are for entrance at 7pm and cost $30. Both tickets include a variety of wine tastings from Smokey Hill Winery and other Kansas wineries.

Marion County Lake Chat n Dine Oct. 13

The October Marion County Lake Chat n Dine Club will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13 in the Marion County Lake South Hall.

Paul and Carolyn White and Bob and Judy Priest will be our hosts for the meeting. We will enjoy a game night for our entertainment.

All present and past Marion County Lake Residents and Marion residents are invited to attend. Please bring your service and a dish to share. We look forward to seeing you there.

Creative Writer’s Fellowship Oct. 6

Creative Writers Fellowship will meet at 2 p..m. on Saturday, Oct 6 at the home of Roma Schmidt, 229 Lake Vista Circle, Hesston. John F. Murray will share methods to write “Your Ancestral Story”.

Marion Co Lake Chat n Dine food sale

The Marion County Chat N Dine Club is participating in the Marion County Lake Chili Cook Off on Saturday, Oct. 6 by providing a Food Sale. Please join us for fresh Cinnamon Rolls, Caramel Pecan Rolls, Cookies, Cakes, and many other yummy baked items. Proceeds from the Sale will go to Marion County Lake improvements

2S2S at Schaeffler House

2nd Saturday 2 Serve will be working on the Schaeffler House grounds 8-11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13. This is a new date as the Sept date was cancelled due to weather.

Anyone is welcome to come and help! Please bring your whole family and your own yard tools. We will be serving from 8-11. We are looking for period appropriate perennials and shrubs to plant.

If you have peonies or other plants you would be willing to donate, please contact Steve Fast at Hillsboro Museums, 620-947-3775, or Krista Heinrichs, 620-877-0638. Shop locally and get your plants from Serenity Gardens where Jana can help you choose the best plants for this project.
