Country Stitchers will meet March 7

The Country Stitchers Quilt Guild is meeting at 7:30 p.m. March 7 at the United Methodist Church, 905 East D St., Hillsboro.
Mark Robertson, a chiropractor from McPherson, will discuss quilting in comfort. Guests are welcome to attend.

RFL pork chop meal set for March 5
?
It?s not too late to get tickets for the Relay for Life Pork Chop Dinner scheduled for 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. March 5 at the Marion VFW.
Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door while supplies last.
Proceeds from the dinner go to the Marion County Relay for Life event, set for April 29-30 at Warrior Track in Marion.

The sixth Relay for Life Quilt, made by Marie Kessler, will be on display at the dinner. Tickets will be available to purchase. The drawing will be Aug. 15.

Marion Library to host quilt show

In conjunction with Marion?s sesquicentennial events, Marion City Library annual quilt show?s theme is ?Stitches in Time.?
The show will run from March 14-26.
More than 20 quilts and wall hangings will be on display. Everyone is encouraged to stop by the library at 101 Library St. during regular hours: Mondays, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Tabor College Choir to sing on KAKE-TV

The Tabor College Choir, under the direction of Brad Vogel, professor of choral music, will sing March 6 on the live television broadcast of the First United Methodist Church in downtown Wichita.
The broadcast will air at 11 a.m. on KAKE, Channel 10, and may also be heard on kake.com.

Tampa PRIDE plans pancake feed

The Tampa PRIDE Committee is sponsoring a donation only pancake feed from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. March 6 at Tampa Senior Center. Following the dinner will be a game night.

Organizers of the Hillsboro Farmers Market are scheduling fundraising meals for the upcoming may through September season.

Walk Kansas deadline March 3
?
The registration deadline for Walk Kansas, an eight-week healthy lifestyle challenge, is March 3, according to Nancy Pihl, Marion County Extension agent.
People interested in registering will need to organize a six-member team and keep track of miles walked each week, with the goal of logging the 423 miles across Kansas.
Walk Kansas is team-based and helps participants lead healthier lives by being more active, making better nutrition choices, and learning positive ways to deal with stress, she said.
Co-workers, family members, friends, neighbors or others in the community are welcome to participate.
The cost is $6 and covers the price of weekly newsletters and a kick-off event. Walk Kansas starts March 13 and concludes May 7.

HES book fair has new online option

The Hillsboro Elementary School library and site council will be hosting another Scholas?tic Book Fair from Wednesday, March 2, to Wednesday, March 9.
HES Book Fair hours and other information are available on the Web at: bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/hillsboroelementaryschool.
New this year is an online option for the book fair. As of Feb. 27, patrons can visit the school?s online book fair at scholastic.com/schoolbookfairs.
The online book fair allows a child to send wish lists and invite family and friends to participate.
It also offers an expanded book selection that includes books for all ages, from child to adult.

StoryTime begins March 18 in Marion

Marion City Library StoryTime will be from 2:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. beginning March 18 and continuing through April 22 for children ages 3, 4 and 5 years.
The program will include stories, crafts and snacks.
Because space is limited, said librarian Janet Marler, parents or guardians are encouraged to make reservations as soon as possible.
