HRC, Berry offer yoga classes

The Hillsboro Recreation Commission and Lesli Beery will be offering a stress relieving yoga class starting Wednesday, July 6.

The intermediate class will be an hour long with multiple poses offered for beginners as well. Partici­pants must be able to get up off of the floor without assistance. They are asked to bring their own mats, but mats can be rented for $1 per class if needed.

The class will meet at 8 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday at City Hall.

Aulne fireworks display July 10

Aulne United Methodist Church will be hosting its annual fireworks display and ice cream social July 10.

Ice cream will be served around 8 p.m. with fireworks at dark. The event is free, but donations would be appreciated.

Visitors may bring lawn chairs or blankets for viewing the show.

The church is located at the corner of Pawnee and 140th.

Meal, memories at Florence library

The board of the Florence Public Library will be serving a spaghetti meal at 5:30 p.m. July 12 at the American Legion building to mark the 65th anniversary of the 1951 flood in Florence.

The pubic is invited and a donation for the meal is encouraged. Patrons are asked to share their memories and photos of the flood.

Marion library hosting movies

During the month of July, the Marion City Library will show movies at 2:30 p.m. every Wednesday in the Santa Fe room. Movies are rated for families and children. Children under age 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Snacks will be provided. For title information, stop by the library, 101 Library St., or call 620-382-2442.

Relay for Life

set for Aug. 13

The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of Marion County is Aug. 13 at the Marion High School War­rior Stadium.

This year’s thems is The “Paint Your World Purple!” We are looking for teams, can­cer survivors, caregivers, and general participants to get signed up.

An informal team captain/participant information meeting is at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, at the Hillsboro Pizza Hut.

Supplies and important information will be available.

Marion to host

Wichita program

The Marion City Library is hosting Exploration Place from Wichita at 10 a.m. June 30 at the Marion Community Center, 203 N. Third St.

The program will focus on discovering the power of “STEM” in baseball, soccer, football and other sports.

Children will rotate through action stations where they will score a goal from a specific angle, measure the force of a hit or the speed of a ball toss and more.

The program, sponsored by Marion City Library, is for child­ren in grades K-8, but everyone is welcome.

Tampa has date

change for meal

“Dinner Together” in Tampa has been changed from July 6 to July 13 at 6 p.m. at the Tampa Senior Center.

The dinner will be in conjunction with the 4-H mini fair. A bierock meal will be served. The public is invited.

No bake sale will be available this month.
