FHS fundraiser picnic is June 25
The Florence Historical Society is having its 18th annual “Picnic on The Lawn” from 5:30-7 p.m. Saturday, June 25, at the Harvey House Museum, Third and Marion streets, Florence.
The menu includes fried fish, mountain oysters, homemade side dishes, salads and desserts for a donation.
This is the annual fundraiser for the museum.

Wichita program
The Marion City Library is hosting Exploration Place from Wichita at 10 a.m. June 30 at the Marion Community Center, 203 N. Third St.
The program will focus on discovering the power of “STEM” in baseball, soccer, football and other sports.
Children will rotate through action stations where they will score a goal from a specific angle, measure the force of a hit or the speed of a ball toss and more.
The program, sponsored by Marion City Library, is for children in grades K-8, but everyone is welcome.

sets garden tour
The Marion Library is hosting its sixth annual Garden Tour from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 25.
The gardens this year will be at the homes of Steve and Diane Sams, Bruce and Belinda Skiles, Vickie Kraus, Scott and Laurie Miesse and Eldon and Rhonda Hett.
All proceeds from the garden tour are used for future library projects.
Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased at the library, 100 Library St., Marion.

GOP challenger to speak June 28
Roger Marshall, Republican candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives from First District, will be speaking at the Hillsboro Senior Center June 28.
Marshall, a Great Bend physician specializing in obstetrics and gynecology, is challenging for the seat currently occupied by Tim Huelskamp.
The public is invited to the noon lunch; reservations need to be called in by 9:30 a.m. that day. The cost of the meal is $3.50.
The meal begins at noon, Marshall will speak at about 12:30 p.m.
Relay for Life planned Aug. 13
The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of Marion County is Aug. 13 at the Marion High School Warrior Stadium.
This year’s thems is The “Paint Your World Purple!” We are looking for teams, cancer survivors, caregivers, and general participants to get signed up.
An informal team captain/participant information meeting is at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, at the Hillsboro Pizza Hut.
