Open class fees, dates announced


The Marion County Fair is less than one month away, and organizers are reminding everyone that all open class exhibits must check in between 9 a.m. and noon Wednesday July 28. Judging will be the same day. The entry fees per division are one to three items, free; four to six items $1; seven to 10 items, $2; and 11 items or more, $3.

No entry fees are charged to youth under 18.

In addition, entries that have been previously exhibited at this fair are not allowed to be entered. Check-out and premium payment is from noon to 1 p.m. only on Saturday, July 31.

According to organizers, this wil allow management to clear out of the building and prepare for the demolition derby.


Home educators plan get-together


Marion County Home Educators, a local support group for homeschooling families, is hosting an informational get-together at 6:30 p.m. Monday, July 19, in the west room of the Hillsboro Community Building.

Anyone interested in homeschooling or general information, is encouraged to attend.

LMC board to meet July 8 in Marion



The Leadership Marion County Board of Directors will meet at noon, Thursday, July 8, at Pizza Hut in Marion.

In addition, 2010 LMC graduates who were selected to join the board are invited to attend this meeting.


Zion Lutheran Church VBS July 19


Zion Lutheran Church Vacation Bible School will be held from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. July 19 through July 23.

Dinner will be provided for children.
