Relay for Life set for Aug. 13
The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Marion County is Aug. 13 at the Marion High School Warrior Stadium.
This year’s theme is “Paint Your World Purple!” We are looking for teams, cancer survivors, caregivers, and general participants to get signed up.
Aulne fireworks display July 10
Aulne United Methodist Church will host its annual fireworks display and ice cream social July 10.
Ice cream will be served around 8 p.m. with fireworks at dark. The event is free, but donations would be appreciated.
Visitors may bring lawn chairs or blankets for viewing the show.
The church is located at the corner of Pawnee and 140th.
Meal, memories at Florence library
The board of the Florence Public Library will serve a spaghetti meal at 5:30 p.m. July 12 at the American Legion building to mark the 65th anniversary of the 1951 flood in Florence.
The pubic is invited and a donation for the meal is encouraged. Patrons are asked to share their memories and photos of the flood.
Board to honor senior musicians
The Senior Citizens of Marion County Board of Directors wants to honor instrumental musicians at the organization’s annual meeting Oct. 20 at the Marion Senior Center.
The board is seeking nominations of instrumentalists who have played for their own enjoyment, organization, work, school or church; live in Marion County; are at least 60 years of age; and can attend the SCMC annual meeting in October.
Nominations are accepted from the family, friends, coworkers and nominees themselves. Nomination forms are available starting July 8 at local senior centers or through the Marion County Department on Aging. The forms need to be returned to a local center or the Department on Aging by Aug. 12.

Chat & Dine Club to gather July 9
The Marion County Lake Chat and Dine Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. July 9 at the East Shelter House.
Hosts for the evening are the officers, who will provide grilled hot dogs and hamburgers plus sides.
Everyone is asked to invite others to the dinner. All current and past lake residents, as well as those in campers and mobile homes, are included in the invitation. Participants are asked to bring a dish and a guest for this annual cook out.
