Dept. on Aging to offer wellness class

The Marion County Depart?ment on Aging will offer a six-week wellness class in Marion starting July 25.

The class will meet once a week at 1:30 p.m. for six consecutive Mondays through Aug. 29. All sessions will be at the Hilltop Manor Community Room, 1501 E. Lawrence, Marion.

This program, developed by Stanford University, helps people improve their quality of life by learning valuable techniques to cope with the symptoms and frustrations of living with a chronic condition.

The class is open to anyone living with diabetes, pain, lung disease, heart disease and arthritis. The class also is open to family, friends or caregivers.

The cost for the class is $6, but no one will be denied participation due to inability to pay.

Registration is required. The deadline for registration is Fri?day, July 22.

Community hymn sing slated July 24

The monthly community hymn sing begins at 7 p.m. July 24 in the Hearth Room of the Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church, 300 Prairie Pointe, Hillsboro.

The event will include singing hymns, scripture readings and prayer.

Those attending will have an opportunity to select favorite hymns to sing. Steve Vincent is leading the hymn sing, and this month?s theme is ?Contentment versus Satisfaction.? Tabor College freshman Matthew Wiebe will be the trumpeter.

Roller skating night July 22 in Florence

Florence is having its monthly roller skating night from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. July 22 at the old gymnasium, Sixth Street and Dean. Everyone is welcome.

For those who haven?t skated at the rink, they are encouraged to call ahead and make sure there are skates in their size, organizers said.
