P.A.T. to offer ?PJ Reading? in January

Marion County Parents as Teachers and Rachel Boden, a conscious disci?pline trainer, will be offering hour-long ?P.A.T. PJ Read?ing? sessions for play, movement and reading at public libraries around the county during January.

The free sessions, plan?ned for families with children birth to age 3, are based on the book, ?Sophie Is a S.T.A.R.? by Becky A. Bailey, an expert in childhood education and developmental psychology.

The times and library locations are as follows: Hillsboro, 6-7 p.m. Jan. 18; Marion, 6-7 p.m. Jan. 21; Goessel, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Jan. 22; Peabody, 10-11 a.m. Jan. 23; and Burns, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Jan. 29.

Canton Bible Study

planned Jan. 18

The Canton Community Bible Study resumes at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18, at McMannis Building on Main Street.

The group will begin the new year with a study of the Book of James led by Pastor David Norris of Spring Valley Mennonite Church.

Everyone is invited to attend.

Essential oils class planned for Jan. 18

The Hillsboro Recreation Commission and Jill Utecht are offering a free Essential Oils 101 class at 7 p.m. Jan. 18 at Hillsboro City Hall.

Topics include the benefits of essential oils and how to use them for health and wellness, cleaning a home or developing chemical-free personal-care products.

Participants are asked to register so leaders know how many people to plan for. A flyer about the class is available at cityofhillsboro.net/hrc.html.

MCCD to present six soil awards

The McPherson County Conservation District is having its 2016 annual meeting at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 25 at the McPherson County 4-H Building.

The meeting will open with dinner at 6:30 p.m. followed by the business meeting at 7:15 p.m. Reservations are required for the dinner. The business meeting is open to the public.

During the business meeting, six McPherson County producers will be recognized: Steve and Janet Bloomberg, Assaria; Glenn Martinson, McPherson; Ray and Ardis Atkins, Inman; Karl and Wanda Esping, Lindsborg; William and Juanita Ander?son, Roxbury; and Chris and Mike Zeller, Windom.

The McKinney Sisters of Moundridge will provide the evening?s entertainment.

St. Luke Hospital

Auxiliary dinner set

The St. Luke Hospital Auxiliary annual meeting and 10th anniversary of St. Luke Hospital Auxiliary Shoppe is at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, at the Marion Community Building, Santa Fe and Third Street.

The dinner is $12.50 for a single or $25 for a couple.

Reservations are due no later than Jan. 18.
