Elbiata Singers offer Valentine gift

The Goessel High School Elbiata Singers will offer singing Valentines from 7:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 14 to people in Newton and the Hesston communities, said Renae Peters at GHS.

The cost of $20 will benefit the Elbiata Singers, a 20-member mixed vocal ensemble.

Youth offering care for kids Jan. 2

Hillsboro Mennonite Breth?ren Church youth will offer a ?Community Childcare Day? from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at the church, located at 300 Prairie Pointe.

The service is for infants through middle-school children, with activities planned for different ages. Dinner will be provided.

?Our purpose is to encourage and support the parents of families to have some time for themselves,? said Paul Raugust, youth pastor. ?We hope everyone can take advantage of this opportunity and use this time to refuel as parents.?

Any donations that might be offered will go toward the youth group?s attendance at a national convention in San Antonio, Texas.

RSVPs are encouraged, and can be made by calling Raugust at 620-877-7419 or the church office at 947-3144, ext. 0.

Aging dept. to help with tax and LIEAP

The Marion County Depart?ment on Aging will help individuals file their homestead and food sales tax forms, plus Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) applications.

The filing and application process will be done online for a quicker return.

Individuals will need to bring information about their 2010 income, any other source of income or assistance, plus their property-tax statement.

Individuals can call 620-382-3580 to set up an appointment at the Marion office.

Gayla Ratzlaff, coordinator, will be at the Peabody Senior Center starting at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, to assist individuals. To make an appointment, call the center at 620-983-2226.

Ratzlaff will be in Tampa after 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8. Call the department?s office in Marion to make an appointment in Tampa.

Ratzlaff will be at the Hills?boro Senior Center starting at 8 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, and again Tuesday, Feb. 22. For an appointment, call the Hillsboro center at 620-947-2304.
