Kansas Day event planned Jan. 29

The 14th annual Kansas Day celebration will be at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 29 at Eastmoor United Methodist Church, 105 Eastmoor Drive in Marion.

Tallgrass Express String Band will be in concert, featuring music of the Flint Hills. Annie Wilson, designated Flint Hills Balladeer by Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback is the group leader and song writer.

Reservations are $15 for the meal and entertainment may be made by calling Janet Bryant at 620-382-3418.

 

Health insurance enrollment set

Affordable Care Act navigators will be offering assistance with health insurance enrollment from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 23 at the Prairie View Hillsboro Office, 508 S. Ash.

Appointments are also available on different dates by contacting Health Ministries Clinic, 209 S. Pine St., Newton or calling 316-281-7329.

 

Yellow Dot program to begin

The Hillsboro Lions Club is making the Yellow Dot Program easier for participants by taking photos and printing them at various events in town.

The way the Yellow Dot Program works is to inform emergency medical personnel and first responders about health information and proper treatment when the recipient is involved in a vehicle accident.

The first event using a camera and printer to take photos will be from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at the Hillsboro Lion?s pancake feed at Hillsboro Senior Center, 212 N. Main.

For those who have a Yellow Dot envelope and have yet to complete the information, they are encouraged to bring it along. However, there is a good supply of information available for those wanting to participate.

 

HMS seeks area alums for project

Hillsboro Middle School is inviting Trojan alumni in the area to participate in a College and Career Readi?ness project planned for 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Jan. 29 at the middle school.

Participants will sit on a panel with other Trojan alumni to describe the path that led them to their current career.

Sign-up begins for market meals

Individuals and groups interested in providing meals for this year?s Hills?boro Farmers Market are invited to sign up for the new season.
