HCF application deadline is Dec. 22

The Hillsboro Commun­ity Foundation is accepting applications for grant funds to be distributed in 2018 from the Hillsboro Area Impact Fund.

Organizations may apply that are exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) and serve Hillsboro and surrounding communities.

Application forms can be downloaded from hillsboro­free­press.com or cityofhillsboro.net. The deadline for submission is 5 p.m. Dec. 22.

The Impact Fund is an unrestricted grant fund created by the generosity of individuals who have contributed to this endowment. Grants will not be limited to a particular issue or target population.

Successful applications assist the foundation in fulfilling its mission to improve the quality of life for the Hillsboro area.

Commodities arrive

Dec. 20 in the county

USDA commodities will arrive at senior centers in Marion County on Dec. 20. Each site will distribute them according to their own schedule and may not distribute on the same day.

Those receiving commodities are asked to contact their local site for a distribution schedule.

If there are no commodities left at a specific site, call the Marion County Depart­ment on Aging at 620-382-3580 to find out where commodities are available. These products are for people who are income eligible.

Income eligibility guidelines for a household of one person is $1,211; for two, $1,640; three, $2069; and four, $2,498. For each additional family member add $429.

TEEN group to meet via phone Dec. 20

Technology Excellence in Education Network will be meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednes­day, Dec. 20, via a phone conference initiated from the USD 410 district office at 416 S. Date, Hills­boro.

Old-fashioned event

planned Sunday

An old-fashioned Christ­mas program, “Christ­mas at the Clubhouse,” is planned for 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, at Spring Valley. The program will include singing carols and a candle-lighting.

Everyone is welcome to attend.
