HHS groups ask for coats, jackets

The Hillsboro High School Leos Club and Family, Career and Community Leaders of America organization are organizing a coat drive for Main Street Ministries.

Coats and jackets of all sizes will be accepted, and need to be in any of the Hillsboro school offices by 8 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 19.

The groups will then wash them, sort them and take them to Main Street Ministries.

 

Christmas concert Dec. 22 in Marion

A concert titled ?The Music of Christmas? will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, at Valley United Methodist Church, 300 Santa Fe St., Marion.

Stephen Vincent will be the organist and pianist, and joining him will be Paul Epp, narrator and trumpeter, and Judith Priest, violinist.

The concert is free. No offerings will be taken and refreshments will be served following the event.

 

Peabody church plans Dec. 24 event

St. Paul?s Lutheran Church, 212 E. Division, Peabody, is having a candlelight musical concert from 4:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Christmas Eve. The service will be at 5 p.m.

Everyone is welcome to attend.

 

Grace Community Church plans event

Grace Community Church invites everyone to ?The Appointed Son? service at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, at Hillsboro Elementary School, 812 East A St.

Maxwell plans elk and bison tour

The Friends of Maxwell at Maxwell Wildlife Refuge north of Canton will celebrate Elk Days Jan. 18 and 25 with a prairie tour in an enclosed tram that will include the refuge?s elk herd.

The elk herd appears only during the winter months. Participants also will view the bison herd during the tour and will be served lunch upon arriving back to the tour center.

Admission for the tour and meal will be by donation and will require reservations. For more information or to make reservations, call 620-628-4455.
