NAMI group plans Sept. 6 meeting

The McPherson chapter of National Alliance on Mental Illness will meet at 7 p.m. Sept. 6 at Crossroads Assembly of God Church south of McPherson.

Gretchen Esping will be speaking on ?How To Work With Your Legislator.?

Parkview Church activities to begin

Parkview Church, 610 S. Main, will begin Wednesday night activities from 6:45 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. Aug. 29.

Children are asked to wear clothes they can get wet because a fire truck will be onsite for this first event.

Cubbies are children ages 4 and 5; Sparks are from kindergarten through second grade and TeamKid includes students in third through fifth.

Parents are welcome and children can bring a friend.

Quilt guild meeting scheduled Sept. 3

The Country Stitchers Quilt Guild will meet at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 3 at Hillsboro United Methodist Church, 905 E. D St., Hillsboro.

The program will be to prepare for the Oct. 13 quilt show.

In addition, the guild will start its new year and invites others to hear what is being planned.

 

Bergman featured at Sept. 15 recital

Peabody resident Catherine ?Kate? Bergman will present a flute and piccolo recital at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at Peabody United Methodist Church, 403 N. Sycamore St.

Bergman will be accompanied by Tara Laudie on piano.

Bergman began teaching flute at Emporia State Univer?sity in 2002. She teaches flute lessons, music appreciation, ear training/sight singing classes and conducts the ESU Flute Choir.

Bergman is a member of the Newton Mid-Kansas Symphony, the Mid-America Woodwind Quintet, the Flint Hills Trio and various chamber groups at ESU.

 

Chat and Dine potluck set Sept. 8

The Marion County Lake Chat and Dine Club is having its next potluck dinner at 6:30 p.m. Saturday Sept. 8 at the lake hall.

Organizers encourage residents to bring a friend for an evening of food and fellowship.
