Easter hymn sing planned at EMBC

Ebenfeld Mennonite Brethren Church is hosting a community hymn sing at 7 p.m. April 8 (Easter).

The event includes singing, prayer and scripture reading, and those attending will have the opportunity to select favorite hymns to be sung.

The theme is, ?The Four Empty Things of Easter,? led by Steve Vincent. Choral music will be provided by Parkside Voices.

Ebenfeld MBC is at 1498 Kanza Road, rural Hillsboro.

 

UMW Ladies plan ?night-out salad?

The United Methodist Ladies will be hosting their annual Ladies? Night-Out Salad Supper at 6:30 p.m. April 12 at UMC, 905 East D St., Hillsboro.

The speaker is Becky Spencer of Buhler, who is known as the fight lady, will present ?More of You, Less of Me.?

Her talk will be about women and the obstacles in their lives.

She will also share stories from her own battles and how even victory over self has come from resting in God?s goodness and love.

 

Huelskamp plans town meeting here

Kansas 1st District Congressman Tim Huelskamp has scheduled a town hall meeting at 4:30 p.m. April 10 at the Hillsboro city building, west room, at 118 E. Grand Ave., Hillsboro.

 

Commodities to arrive April 12

USDA commodities will be available Thursday, April 12 at the Marion County senior centers. Commodities will be distributed according to individual site schedules. Eligible persons should pick up commodities from local distribution sites.

Persons eligible to receive commodities fall into the following income guidelines, new April 1: $1,211 for a single household, $1,640 for two, $2,069 for three, $2,498 for four. For each additional family member, add $429.
