Preschool apps for 2013-14 accepted
Marion and Hillsboro are having application fairs for preschools for the 2013-14 school year.
Applications are always being accepted, but to enroll a child in the next school year, he or she must be age 3 by Aug. 31.

Piano recital set April 28 in Durham
The Durham Baptist Church will have a piano recital at 1:15 p.m.?Sunday, April 28, to dedicate its new piano.
The piano was purchased with memorial funds of Geraldine Frick, Leland Kaiser, Oliver Mohn and Paul Pankratz. Guest pianists will be Sherilyn (Pankratz) Kadel and Robin (Unruh) Pekarik.
The public is invited to attend.
County offering class on wellness
The Marion County Depart?ment on Aging will offer a wellness class at 2 p.m. starting Tuesday, April 30, in the Butter?fly Lane Room at Bethesda Home in Goessel.
The class is designed for individuals living with arthritis, heart or lung disease, diabetes and other chronic diseases.
This class will meet every Tuesday for six weeks. The cost is $6. The class will address decision-making, healthy eating, falls and balance, getting a good night?s sleep, medications and talking with your physician.

Horse rides, chili cook-off at ?fling?
Florence is hosting its annual Spring Fling starting at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 28, at Grandview Park.
Activities will include children?s games, horse rides, a petting zoo, water games, a tent site with mountain men and a chili cook-off from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Results will be announced at 4:30 p.m.
According to organizers, this is the first year for horse rides and water games will be sponsored by the Florence Fire Department.
Entry forms for the chili cook-off competition are available at Cottonwood Valley Bank.
A meal featuring a potato bar with all the fixings is being served at 5 p.m. Donations will be accepted. A cake auction will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by a short musical program by pastor Jeff Lee.
