Math tutor available in Marion

Mr. Molleker will be available to tutor math students from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesdays and 6-7p.m. on Thursdays. The sessions will be held at the Marion City Library.

Appointments must be made in advance by called in the Marion City Library at 620-382-2442.

The library is located at 101 Library St in Marion.

Hymn Sing at Parkview Sept. 30

At 7 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 30, Parkview M.B. Church will host a “Hymn Sing”. The audience will be asked to pick hymns of their choice to sing with the rest of the congregation. There will be a short devotional by Pastor Tom Byford. Karoline (age 13) and Vasalisa (age 11) Cherenov will bring some terrific piano numbers.

The public is invited to attend.

FPL fundraiser held on Oct. 8

The Florence Public Library will be hosting a fund raiser at 5 p.m. on Oct. 8 at the library.

A pulled pork meal will be served for a freewill offering.

Net proceeds will be divided with the Florence Fire Department. Last month’s fundraiser was divided with the Florence Masonic Lodge.

Celebration at Marion Sr. Center Oct. 18

The Senior Citizens of Marion County, Inc. invites all individuals to join them in celebrating their beginning 58 years ago. The celebration is taking place on Thursday, Oct. 18 at the Marion Senior Center.

Registration will begin at 11 a.m. The Friendship Meal will be served at 12 and the program beginning at 12:45 p.m.

This year the Senior Citizens of Marion County are honoring 4 county woodworkers. The speak will be Jerry Keen, woodworker from Wichita, KS. He is a member of the Sunflower Woodworkers’ Guild in Wichita.

The free will offering this year will go towards establishing a scholarship for a 2019 Marion County Senior going into related field to aging such as medicine, social work, therapies (physical, speech, occupational, recreational) gerontology and psychology.

Please contact the Marion County Dept on Aging or your local senior center to register for this even. Cost of registration is $5.25 per person and you must register by Tuesday, Oct. 9 in order to attend.
