Chat N’ Dine plans to meet July 14

The Marion County Lake Chat N’ Dine meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, July 14 in the home of Larry and Linda Beck at 1885 Upland Road.

Larry and Linda will be the hosts for the evening. Plans include enjoying a cookout, visiting with friends and neighbors, and swimming.

Hamburgers and hot dogs will be provided by Chat N’ Dine.

Please bring service and a dish to share. All past and present Marion County Lake residents and guests are welcome.

Group to collect items for HES children

The Hillsboro M.B. Church Second Saturday to Serve group is sponsoring “Smiles and Soles for Jesus.”

The group is asking the public to donate new or like-new condition school shoes, socks and toothbrushes for Hillsboro Elementary schoolers kindergarten through fifth grade.

Monetary donations for this project will be accepted. Donations will be distributed at enrollment time. Drop off items in the designated boxes found at Hillsboro Public Library, USD 410 Central Office and the Hillsboro M.B. Church.

SCMC seeks names

of local woodworkers

Senior Citizens of Marion County Board of Directors wants to honor woodworkers at the organization’s annual meeting on Oct. 18.

The board is seeking nominations of woodworkers who have worked with wood through carving, whittling, scrolling, wood inlays and making toys to furniture, live in Marion County, 60-years of age and are willing to attend the SCMC Annual Meeting in October.

Nominations are accepted from the public. Nomination forms are available at local senior centers or through the Marion County Department on Aging at 620-382-3580 starting July 11. Forms need to be returned to a local center or Department on Aging by Aug. 17.

To welcome staff,

teachers Aug. 13

Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce along with Hillsboro Young Professionals will welcome new teachers and staff of USD 410 with their joint luncheon at noon Monday, Aug. 13.

The lunch will be at the HHS/HMS Cafeteria. Those who plan to attend should RSVP to the chamber office by Tuesday, July 31, for ordering purposes.

A school supply drive will be held during the lunch, but no fee is required to attend the luncheon, thanks to a sponsorship from Midway Motors of Hillsboro.

The chamber asks attendees to bring a school item to donate. All will be given to the district to those in need.

TEEN meeting set for July 18

Technology Excellence in Education Network will hold its regular monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 18.

The meeting will be held at the USD 408 District Office at 101 N. Thorp in Marion.
