Art exhibit display at Hillsboro library

An exhibit of local artists is on display at the Hillsboro Public Library through the month of May.

The artists are from Letty Enns painting group.

The painting classes are from October through May, and the artwork is in medium of pencil, oil or watercolors.

Artists featured include Billy Kuesser, Joan Heinrichs, Teresa Rammers, Norma Duerksen, Candy Tucker and Letty Enns.


Alumni 5K, golf tourney May 24

The first HHS Alumni and Friends 5K Fun Run/Walk or golf tournament is planned for Satur?day, May 24.

The 5K event will begin at 9 a.m. in front of the high school.

The golf tournament begins with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. at the Hillsboro Golf Course.

Proceeds from both events will go toward the USD 410 Early Childhood Education Fund.

Registration forms are available at USD 410 District Office, 416 S. Date, or at various locations in town.

The Marion library celebrates ?Oz?

The Marion City Library is celebrating the 75th anniversary of the movie release, ?The Wizard of Oz,? during May with special activities, displays events, games and more.

To win a ?Wizard of Oz? book, stop by the library and register.

Activities include from 2-4 p.m. May 22 for children ages 6 to 10 years old is an ?Oz? celebration with crafts, activities, games, photo booth and snacks with the ?Oz? theme. Children must pre-register by May 16.

?The Wizard of Oz? movie will be shown at 6:30 p.m. May 22 in the Santa Fe room on a large screen. No registration is required. Popcorn will be provided and those attending are asked to bring a pillow to sit on the floor. Chairs will be available.

A special storytime for children ages 3 to 5 will be from 10-11 a.m. May 23, also at the library. Crafts, activities, games and snacks will be available. Pre-registration is required by May 16.

TEEN group will meet May 21

The Technology Excel?lence in Education Network will hold its regular meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, via phone conference.

The phone conference will be initiated from the USD 410 central office at 416 S. Date St., Hillsboro.
