Storytime to begin at Hillsboro Library

The Hillsboro Public Library is having its Story?time beginning Sept. 17 and 18 from 10:20 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the library, 120 E. Grand St.

Children age 3 through kindergarten are invited to take part in games, activities and crafts.

Delora Kaufman, children?s librarian, also will be reading.

The cost is $4 for the fall session.

Marion resident to discuss Russia trip

St. Paul?s Lutheran Church, 213 E. Division, Peabody, is inviting everyone to a presentation at 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 7, by Jackie Volbrecht and her journey to Russia.

The journey began when she heard about the remnants of the church in Russia. The New Testament stories came to life as she worshipped in living rooms. Participants sought

Everyone is invited to attend an Alternative Gift meeting at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at the Fellowship Hall of Marion Presbyter?ian Church, 610 Lawrence St.

People may pick from among the 30 charities vetted by Alternative Gifts.

Participants will receive all the information they need for a successful market, according to project organizers.

For the past four years, residents in Marion County have raised money for such items as school supplies, scholarships for children in Haiti and cook stoves for families in Tanzania.

The market itself is planned from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 8 in at the Marion Community Center, 201 N. Third.

Those participating need to make 35 ornaments that are representative of their project.

Stitchers to meet Sept. 8 at Hillsboro

The Country Stitchers Quilt Guild will meet at 7 p.m. Sept. 8 at Hillsboro United Methodist Church, 905 E. D St.

The program theme is ?Just a Bunch of Block?heads,? given by a group of Abilene quilters who call themselves Blockheads.

Visitors are welcome.

 

Chamber luncheon Sept. 9 at Tabor

The Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce monthly luncheon will be at noon Sept. 9 at the Wohlegmuth Music Educa?tion Center Lobby on the Tabor College campus.

Reservations are needed by noon Sept. 5. The luncheon is open to all Chamber members and guests.
