Hymn sing set for July 27 at HMBC

The periodic community hymn sing is planned for 7 p.m. July 27 at the Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church, 300 Prairie Pointe.

Song director for the evening will again be Tim Cassidy, music instructor at several local schools.


4-Hers schedule bake sale July 27

The Marion County 4-H Foods Bake Sale, sponsored by 4-H members, will start at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, at Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church, 610 S. Main St., Hillsboro.

All proceeds from the sale go to the 4-H Council and to help with fair expenses.


SCMC seeks to honor teachers

The Senior Citizens of Marion County Board of Directors desires to honor retired educators at its annual meeting in October.

The board is seeking nominations of retired teachers/professors who: live in Marion County; are at least 60 years of age; were employed in the county, state or out of state; taught at public/private schools or colleges/universities.

Nominations are accepted from the public through Aug. 9. Forms are available at local senior centers or online on the Depart?ment on Aging web page at www.marioncoks.net.

The deadline for nominations is Aug. 9.
