HRC Chopped JR. Class starting soon

The Hillsboro Recreation Commission, is sponsoring a new class call Chopped Jr. What dish would you create out of apples, rotisserie chicken, fresh parsley, and eggs? The various combinations from our student chefs are always surprising and delicious!

Chopped Jr. is the opportunity for your child chef to prepare a dish out of four required ingredients as well as a pantry of other options. Their dishes are then judged on taste, presentation, and creativity.

While no one will be “chopped”, they WILL have the opportunity to learn basic cooking techniques, to practice knife skills, and to try new food combinations.

The class will be led by HMS teachers Anne Janzen and Tamara Cassidy. Chopped Jr. will be held in the FACS (hospitality room) at the school on Oct 26, 9-11 a.m. for 5th and 6th graders; and 1 -3 p.m. for 7th and 8th graders.

Deadline to register is Oct 18.

Sign up for any of our HRC programs online at https://hillsboroks.recdesk.com/Community/ Home on any computer, tablet or smart phone as long as you have a credit card or check card.
