TEEN meeting held on Oct 16

The Technology Excellence in Education Network (TEEN) will hold its regular monthly meeting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16. The meeting will be held at the USD 410 District Office at 416 S. Date, Hillsboro, KS 67063.

Government Commodities coming

Government surplus commodities will arrive at senior centers in Marion County on Wednesday, Oct 16.

Each site will distribute them according to their own schedule and may not distribute on the same day. Check with your local site for distribution schedule.

Lehigh residents pick up commodities at Main St. Ministries in Hillsboro. Durham residents pick up commodities at Marion Senior Center. If there are no commodities left at your site please call the Marion County Dept. on Aging 620-382-3580 to find out where commodities are available.

The commodities are available to persons who are income eligible and should be picked up from your local distribution site. This institution is an equal opportunity program.

To be eligible for commodities, your household’s total monthly income must be below: Household Size Max. Income

1 $1,354

2 $1,832

3 $2,311

4 $2,790

5 $3,269

For each additional family member add $479.

CGHS FFA to hold pancake feed

On Saturday, October 12, 2019, the Canton-Galva High School FFA Chapter will be holding its annual pancake feed in the high school cafeteria. It will be held from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The meal includes all the pancakes you can eat, scrambled eggs, sausage, juice, and coffee.

Tickets can be purchased in advance from high school students, upon arrival at the pancake feed or by reaching out to the Agriculture Department at austina@usd419.org.

An adult’s ticket costs $5 and a child’s ticket costs $4. The children’s tickets are for children from 10 years of age and under. Money raised will help support students’ trip to the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, as well as other activities throughout the year.

There will also be a silent auction for food and craft items. Your support if Canton-Galva FFA is greatly appreciated!

FPL to host meal and Bingo night

The Florence Public Library will host a meal and Bingo Night on Oct 14 at the library at 5 p.m.

On the menu will be pulled pork, salad bar and desserts. Join your friends playing bingo for white elephant prizes after the meal.
