Schmidt celebrates 103rd birthday

Ella Schmidt celebrated her 103rd birthday March 6 at Schowalter Villa in Hesston.

Joining in the festivities were members of her family.

She and her husband, Ernst, lived south of Canton where they raised five children.

Her living descendents and families now number more than 90 and include seven great-great-grandchildren.
