Adeline Bernhardt is celebrating her 90th birthday with an open house from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 3, at Tampa Senior Center.
She was born June 6, 1922, to Adolph and Anna Bentz on a farm near Tampa. On June 4, 1944, she was married to Ted Bernhardt, who predeceased her Oct. 2, 2000.
Prior to retiring in May 1987, after working 25 years with the Centre School District, she first started teaching at a country school and Tampa Grade School. She later worked at the sewing factory, Togs for Tots, in Hillsboro and Havlik’s Grocery Store.
Children Barney and Linda Bernhardt of Wichita and Carl and Kathy Hubbard of Wellington, and their families, are hosting the event. She also has 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
