The Hillsboro Convention and Visitor’s Bureau is hosting a Christmas Light Scavenger Hunt. Check out their ad in this week’s paper for the list. Or you can find it on their facebook. Complete your list and submit the completed entry to the city office dropbox by Jan. 1 2020. Two lucky entries will win $50 Chamber Bucks.

Due to the overwhelming response, The Hillsboro Recreation Commission, Heidi Thurston, and Rachel Olsen are hosting a 2nd Cookie Decorating Class from 1-2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan 11, 2020 in the west room at Hillsboro City Hall. During the class, you will get to decorate and take home 8 cookies, and you will learn how to outline and flood with royal icing; the wet-on-wet technique; and how to pipe details. All ingredients and supplies will be provided, but you will need to bring a rimmed cookie sheet. This class is limited to the first 10 participants ages 14 and up. Registration deadline is Monday, Dec 30 with a class fee of $25.

Frostbite 4-mile run to happen Jan 1 Frostbite 4-Mile Fun Run – The Hillsboro Recreation Commission is hosting their 15th Annual Frostbite 4-mile Fun Run at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan 1. This is a non-competitive Walk or Run that starts and ends at the Scout House in Memorial Park while winding through the City of Hillsboro streets. The entry fee for this program is $15. Pre-register by December 24th and receive a commemorative gift. In addition to registering online, registration forms are available at Hillsboro City Hall; or, we also welcome walk-ups. Come out and join us for this event.

Red Cross Blood Drive hosted by HHS girls Please consider donating blood from 12-6 p.m. on Monday, Dec 23 at Hillsboro City Hall for the American Red Cross. A traditional Christmas meal will be served of Hillsboro Sausage and sides, and the Red Cross will be giving all donors a long-sleeve Red Cross Tshirt. It is a great way to give during the Christmas Season! The High School girls basketball team will be hosting the drive, and as a thank you from the Red Cross they will be receiving $10 per pint of blood collected to fun team equipment. Appointments can be booked online at the Red Cross website and walk-ins are welcome from 12-6 p.m. We hope to see you there!
