A FREE screening for children birth through five years old will be held Tuesday, January 14 in Hillsboro. Appointments will be available from 9-11:30am. At the screening, development will be checked in the areas of: cognitive, motor, speech/language, and social/emotional. Vision and hearing will also be screened. This process usually takes at least one hour for a child to complete. All children are welcome, but an appointment is necessary. Please call 620-382-2858 Ext. 7 for an appointment. The screening is sponsored by Marion County Early Intervention Services.

The Florence Public Library will host a taco meal fundraiser at 5 p.m. on Jan. 13 at the library for a free-will offering. Thank you for your support, come visit with your neighbors and friends.

The HHS Booster Club really needs more help with the Trojan Classic tournament the week of January 21-25. If you can help volunteer your time or donate food items such as cookies, please email trojan.boosters@usd410.net. The shifts aren’t long and are a great way to help your school and community.

The Marion County Democrats will meet at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11 at the Florence Masonic Center at 419 Main in Florence. All county Democrats are urged to attend.

Silly Hat Day is Jan. 15, but the Marion City Library is celebrating Silly Hat Day on Monday, Jan 20 (No School) for children and adults of all ages. No Registration required. Supplies provided. Free! Just stop by and make and decorate a Silly Hat on Monday, Jan 20 anytime between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.! Let’s see who can make the silliest hat!!!
