CPR, first-aid class scheduled May 14

Marion County EMS and K-State Extension are hosting a come and go Simple CPR/First Aid class from 5:30-6:30 p.m. May 14 at the extension office in Marion.

Topics will include choking and poison hazards. This non-credentialing class is free of charge.

 

HHS 5k and golf events May 23

It?s not too late to register for the second annual HHS Alumni and Friends 5K Fun Run and Golf Tournament planned for Saturday, May 23.

The four-person scramble golf tournament will begin with an 8 a.m. shotgun start at the Hillsboro Municipal Golf Course. The 5K run/ walk will begin at 9 a.m. at Hillsboro High School.

Proceeds from both events will benefit the USD 410 Early Childhood Educa?tion Fund.

Registration forms are available at the USD 410 central office or can be downloaded from the USD 410 Facebook page.

The 5K registration form needs to be returned by May 15 to guarantee a T-shirt, but race-day registrations will be accepted.

The Technology Excel?lence in Education Network will meet at 6 p.m. Wednes?day, May 20, at the USD 408 district office at 101 N. Thorp, Marion.

USDA?commodities to arrive May 13

USDA commodities will arrive at Marion County senior centers May 13.

Each site will distribute commodities according to their schedule and may not distribute on the same day.

For information on distribution, contact local sites. Lehigh residents are asked to pick up their commodities at Main Street Ministries in Hillsboro.

In the event no commodities are left at someone?s particular site, they should call the Marion County Department on Aging at 620-382-3580 to find out where commodities are available.

 

HCH to offer floats 3-4:30 p.m. May 14

In recognition of Nation?al Hospital Week, May 11-16, Hillsboro Community Hos?pital is serving root beer floats from 3-4:30 p.m. Thursday, May 14, at the corner of Grand Avenue and Main Street.

Our Savior Lutheran Church, 320 S. Cedar, Marion, will host an American Red Cross blood drive from 2:15-6:30 p.m. Monday, May 18.

All former and current students and teachers of the Burns school system are invited to this year?s reunion.

The business meeting begins at 11:30 a.m., catered meal at 12:30 p.m. and registration at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 24, at the Burns Com?munity Building.

Ceremonies for Hillsboro High School?s 109th graduating class will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 16, at Joel Wiens Stadium.

In case of inclement weather, the ceremonies will be in Robert C. Brown Gym?na??sium.
