Zion Church plans Sunday family day

Vacation Bible School Sunday Family Fun Day is planned from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 28 at Zion Lutheran Church, 106 N. Lincoln, Hillsboro.

?Camp Discovery? is for the entire family and includes snacks, lunch, storytelling, games, music, crafts and Bible challenge.

Picnic on the Lawn set for Saturday

The Florence Historical Society is having its 17th annual Picnic on the Lawn from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, June 20, at the Harvey House Museum.

The menu will include fish and mountain oysters, with many salads, side dishes and desserts. Donations for the meal will be used to support the museum.

Everyone is invited for an evening of good food and good conversation with neighbors, according to Edna Mae Robinson, FHS treasurer.

 

Flint Hills Garden Tour slated June 27

The sixth annual Flowers in the Flint Hills Garden Tour is from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 27. The tour features rural and city locations.

National Guard to perform in Marion

The Kansas National Guard 35th Infantry Divi?sion Band from Olathe will present a concert at 7 p.m. June 23 at the Per?form??ing Arts Center on the campus of Marion High School.

Admission is free to the public.

Chris Barlow, MHS band director, played in the band from October 2005 to April 2007. He serves with Bravo Battery 1/161 FA out of Abilene.

The 35th Infantry Divi?sion Band is under the direction of Chief Warrant Officer Stephen J. Patterson.

 

KDOT plans detour for roundabout

Kansas Department of Transportation officials will begin construction on a roundabout at the intersection of US Highway 56/77 and Kansas Highway 150.

All U.S. Highway 56 traffic will be detoured to Kansas Highway 256.

 

Girl Scouts plan movie in the park

The Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland are sponsoring the movie, ?Big Hero 6,? at 9 p.m. Friday, June 19, at the Scout Hut, Hillsboro Memorial Park.

The event is the Girl Scouts? way of thanking Marion County and city of Hillsboro for their support.

Admission is free. In case of inclement weather, the movie will be shown at Parkview Church.
