The Hillsboro Convention and Visitor’s Bureau is hosting a Christmas Light Scavenger Hunt. Check out their ad in this week’s paper for the list. Or you can find it on their facebook. Complete your list and submit the completed entry to the city office dropbox by Jan. 1 2020. Two lucky entries will win $50 Chamber Bucks.

Due to the overwhelming response, The Hillsboro Recreation Commission, Heidi Thurston, and Rachel Olsen are hosting a 2nd Cookie Decorating Class from 1-2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan 11, 2020 in the west room at Hillsboro City Hall. During the class, you will get to decorate and take home 8 cookies, and you will learn how to outline and flood with royal icing; the wet-on-wet technique; and how to pipe details. All ingredients and supplies will be provided, but you will need to bring a rimmed cookie sheet. This class is limited to the first 10 participants ages 14 and up. Registration deadline is Monday, Dec 30 with a class fee of $25.

A FREE screening for children birth through five years old will be held Tuesday, January 14 in Hillsboro. Appointments will be available from 9-11:30am. At the screening, development will be checked in the areas of cognitive, motor, speech/language, and social/emotional. Vision and hearing will also be screened. This process usually takes at least one hour for a child to complete. All children are welcome, but an appointment is necessary. Please call 620-382-2858 Ext. 7 for an appointment. The screening is sponsored by Marion County Early Intervention Services.
