Mitchell celebrating 90, open house set

The children of Helen Mae Mitchell are planning a birthday celebration from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, at Out Redeemer Lutheran Church, Herington.

Her children are Gayle (Cliff) Clements and Karon (Larry) Lawrenz, all of Herington, Sharon Kolanowski of Chandler, Ariz., Alan (Cyndy) Mitchell of Humble, Texas, and Steve (Pam) Mitchell of Phoenix, Ariz.

Born on Nov. 2, 1927, at St. Francis, she attended St. John’s College at Winfield.

Helen was married to Warren Mitchell, and together they lived their adult life in Herington where for more than 30 years, she was a bookkeeper for Clark Lumber Co.

She retired at 80, but continued to stay active volunteering at the Herington Senior Center and her church, serving in various offices of the Tabitha Society.

The event is come-and-go, and the family is requesting no gifts, but sharing memories with cake and coffee would be gift enough.

Friends unable to attend are asked to please send cards to her at: 806 N. Broadway, Herington, KS 67449.
