Florence couple
Bob and Betty Hanes of Florence were married July 28,1951, at the home of Bob’s parents, Catherine and Ernest Mize of Arkansas.
Both were raised in Arkansas. Following their marriage and a honeymoon, they moved to Florence.
The couple arrived in Florence just after the 1951 flood,
They lived in Florence most of their 65 years together. But because Bob Hanes worked for the Atchison-Topeka-Santa Fe Railroad, they briefly spent time in other cities.
Their children include Deborah (Doug) Hanes-Nelson, R. Neal (Eva) Hanes, and Phillip (Stan) Smith- Hanes; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a number of stepgrandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
