Paul H. Backhus, 88, Tampa, died on Dec. 8, 2021, at Hillsboro Community Hospital in Hillsboro.
The funeral service was at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 13, 2021, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Tampa officiated by Rev. Clark M. Davis.
The family received friends from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday at Jost Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
Interment at Tampa Lutheran cemetery of Tampa.

He was born on Aug. 8, 1933, in rural Tampa to William and Martha (Meyer) Backhus. He married Edna Rhode on Jan. 25, 1953, in Tampa.
Survivors include wife, Edna Backhus of Tampa; son, Brad Backhus of Tampa; daughter, Bev Reid of Marion County Lake; sisters, Ruth Taylor, Alice Yoachum, Lydia Evans; 2 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
