Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Warkentine will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 15, at the Peabody Unite Methodist Church.
Marvin married Thelma Manka April 19, 1947, at that church. They lived in Newton the first six years of their marriage and then spent the next 40 years on a farm in Burns. They reside in a small retirement home they built east of Burns.

They have traveled from Mexico to Alaska and from California to New York and have enjoyed nine winters in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas. As long-time members of the Carriage Travel Club, they were awarded the National Exceptional Service Award in 2006.

Hosting the open house are their five children, Blaine and Denis Warkentine, Carol Powell, Paula Thiessen and Annette Weems. They have 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
