Unruhs celebrate 50th anniversary

Harold and Joyce (Duerksen) Unruh, rural Goessel, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Aug. 23 with a barbecue meal for family and friends hosted by their children.

The couple was married Aug. 23, 1958, at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church near Goessel. Harold retired from AGCO in 2003, and Joyce retired from secretarial work after 32 years.

Their children are Jeff and Barb of rural Walton, and Mike and Jodi of rural Goessel. They have four grandchildren.

Friesens to mark 60th anniversary

Calvin and Betty Friesen of Wichita will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary Oct. 7.

They were married in 1948 at Ebenfeld Mennonite Brethren Church near Hillsboro.

Calvin taught one year at the Ebenfeld School, 10 years in El Dorado, and 26 years for the Wichita Public School System. He retired after 37 years of teaching. Betty was also employed by the Wichita school system.

Children are Larry and Judy Friesen, Rick and Madelyn Friesen, Joel and Beverly Friesen, all of Wichita. They have seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
