Couple to mark 60th anniversary

The children of Merle and Emma (Colgin) Douglas are requesting a card shower for their parents, who will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary Sept. 14.

The couple were married in 1953 at Iola. Merle grew up in Yates Center and Emma on a farm near Moran. Oil field work brought the family to Marion in 1958.

Their children are: Donna and husband Allen Ollek of El Dorado; Deb and husband Jim Budke of rural Strong City; Pam and husband Terry Chizek of Marion; Cathy and husband Lee Jantzen of Peabody, and Melinda and husband James Schroeder of Marion. They have 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren

Open house set for Matz? 90th

The family of Sally (Margaret) Matz is hosting an open house for her 90th birthday from 2-4 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Peabody Senior Center, 106 N. Walnut. Cards and greetings may be sent to her at: 501 N. Vine, Apt. 105, Peabody, KS 66866.

Hillsboro woman to celebrate 94th

Georgia Spohn of Hills?boro will celebrate her 94th birthday Sept. 20, and her family is requesting a card shower. She was born Sept. 20, 1919, at her grandmother?s boarding house, where the Marion Senior Center is located today.
