to celebrate 50th
Joe and Barbara (Bolte) Tajchman, Marion County Lake residents since 2011, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary July 9.
The couple married July 9, 1966, at St. John Nepomucene Church at Pilsen with Monsignor Arthur Tonne officiating.
They moved to Joe’s family farmstead in 1968, where he started farming while in high school and continued to farm and feed cattle until he retired.
She worked at Tip Top Dairies office in Hillsboro, worked part-time at the Marion County Treasurer’s office and Marion County Clerk’s office. In 1979, she started at Donahue Corp. in accounting and as office manager. She worked full-time at Animal Health Center of Marion County Inc. and continues to work there part-time.
Their children are Jessica Laurin, veterinary physician, of Marion, and Jenna Tajchman and husband, Alexi Trofim, Accra, Ghana.
Their grandchildren include Anna Laurin of Lenexa, Jordan Laurin of Manhattan, and Lena Trofim of Accra, Ghana.
The couple are hosting a family lunch July 24 for their families at the Marion County Lake Hall. In August, they are flying to Anchorage, Alaska, for a rail and bus tour as part of their anniversary celebration.
