Durham couple celebrates 60 years
Ron and Dora (Duerksen) Unruh of rural Durham recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
They were married June 1, 1955, at Alexanderwohl Mennonite church, rural Goessel.
The Unruhs made their home northwest of Durham where they have been farmers ever since their marriage.
Their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren gathered for several family events during the Memorial Day weekend, May 23-24.
Some of the events included family pictures at the farm, anniversary cake and attending church together Sunday morning. Many of the grandchildren provided special music including a song from their wedding.
An anniversary dinner at Prairie Oaks Lodge located in the Flint Hills rounded out the weekend.
The couple?s children include Brenda and husband Jim Enns of Hillsboro, Debra and husband Lon Hiebert of Peabody, Mark and wife Barb Unruh of Durham and Warren and wife Anita Unruh of Tampa; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Hillsboro couple to celebrate 69 years
Raymond R. and Eunice (Janzen) Matz of Hillsboro are celebrating their 69th wedding anniversary.
They were married June 22, 1946, at Hillsboro.
Raymond was owner of Matz Upholstery for 61 years and also a rural mail carrier.
Eunice was a secretary at USD 410-Hillsboro for 26 years and later served the Hillsboro Senior Center for 15 years.
The couple has four children Rick and Ruth of Wichita, Ray and Pat of Olathe, Reg of Hillsboro and Eydie and Mike Fellows of Newton; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
