HHS Robotic students to compete at state

Hillsboro High School students Katrina Furer & David Schafer (4101C Ring Kings) tied for first place with Maize 67101V Vaquita at Saturday’s Kansas VEX State Tipping Point Robotics tournament. They will compete next at the Kansas TSA State VEX Tipping Point robotics tournament on March 31.

Hillsboro High School sent students to compete at Kansas VEX State Tipping Point Robotics tournament on Saturday, March 5. Those participating were teams 4101C Ring Kings, consisting of David Schafer and Katrina Furer and 4101J Off Balance, consisting of Zachary Denholm.

In Skills, Denholm was ranked 2nd and Schafer and Furer 5th out of 24 teams. At the end of qualification rounds Denholm was ranked 3rd while Schafer and Furer were ranked 14th.

Denholm dropped out in the quarterfinals and Schafer and Furer won the tournament with Maize alliance partner 67101V. They also won the Think Award, delivering them their second spot at World VEX after receiving the tournament win.

The Kansas TSA State VEX Tipping Point robotics tournament is March 31.
