The 1860s baseball game and ice cream social Sunday evening was a popular part of the 78th annual Florence Labor Day celebration, Friday through Monday. Now in its fourth year, the game features teams reliving baseball lore from more than 150 years ago. The uniforms and rules are from the 1860s and concessions were served at ?turn-back-the-clock? prices. Following the game, fans and players had the option of competing in a watermelon-seed spitting contest. The evening was capped with fireworks. Another highlight was the annual parade down Main Street on Monday morning, which featured Mayor Bob Gayle and First Lady Dana Gayle as grand marshals.
