Two die in one-vehicle accident

Two people were killed in a one-vehicle accident at about 2:30 p.m. Friday, June 30, in the 100 block of Timber Road, close to the Marion-Butler county line.

Caleb Neal, 22, of Waxahachie, Texas, and Kameron Wiebe, 21, of Whitewater, were on the way to their cousin’s wedding, according to Marion County Sgt. Michael Ottensmeier.

“Neal was the driver and was northbound on Timber Road, when the vehicle lost control, went left of center, down into a ditch and hit a power pole,” he said.

Both Neal and passenger Wiebe were pronounced dead at the scene, Ottensmeier said.

Neal was driving a 2008 Honda, but no information was available if either occupant was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The Marion County Sheriff’s department was dispatched to the scene after the first 911 call was received at 2:27 p.m., he said.

Wiebe’s funeral was July 5 at Emmaus Mennonite Church in Whitewater.

Obituary information stated that Wiebe attended Berean Academy in Elbing, and spent two years at Calvary University in Kansas City, Mo.

Neal’s service was July 9 at the Waxahachie Bible Church.

According to obituary information, Neal was the salutatorian of his class, and would have started his senior year at Texas Tech University with a 4.0 GPA.

After he graduated, Neal planned to go to seminary and earn a master’s degree in worship ministry.
