Sunday?s temperature of 111 degrees in Hillsboro broke a record for the day and was the warmest day since 1980, according Robb Lawson, meteorologist at the National Weather Service office in Wichita.
The same temperature was reported also in Wichita and other areas, and no relief is in sight as temperatures are expected to stay in the triple digits at least through the week, Lawson said.
The state has already had 19 days of temperatures hitting 100 degrees or more.
?On average, the state has about 10.5 days,? Lawson said, noting that we already have broken that record and are still in July.
