Registration fees are $10 for ages 12 and older and $5 for children 11 and younger. A Redneck Run T-shirt is included with the registration fee. Registration is due by Thursday, June 26.
Send the registration fee, along with name, address, phone number, age and shirt size to Redneck Run, 506 E. First, Ramona, KS 67475. Shirt sizes are youth small (6-8), medium (10-12), large (14-16); adult small, medium, large, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL.
Runners can also register the day of the event, however, fees increase to $13 for adults and $7 for children, and the shirt will be mailed within two weeks from the event.
A farm-style biscuit and gravy breakfast will be offered for runners and the public from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Ramona Senior Center on the corner of third and D streets.
The Redneck Run is sponsored by the city of Ramona, and proceeds will go toward the Fourth of July event fund. The Redneck Run coordinators are Byron and Julie Noeth, 785-258-4086.
Other Fourth of July attractions include the Redneck Olympics, dunk tank, kids? inflatable fun house, horseshoe events (Ronnie Hanschu, 965-7277), 3-on-3 basketball competition (Jeannie Goza, 366-0931), old-fashioned cake walk (Darlene Sondergard, 965-7231), live music on Main Street throughout the day, Belgian horse rides after the parade, kids? pie eating contest, adult spam carving contest and ?Redneck Games,? inviting teams of four people from neighboring towns to compete with a team from Ramona for ?Who?s the most Redneck,? (Pat Wick, 965-2621).
The Redneck in Ramona Parade will begin at 7 p.m. on Main Street. Redneck Rockets (fireworks), sponsored by DC Trucking of Ramona and Tampa State Bank, will begin around 9:30 p.m.
