Peabody earns accreditation for Main Street

Peabody Main Street Association earned national accreditation as a 2010 National Main Street Program, according to Shane Marler, executive director of the association.

For Marler, a large part of the success in achieving the accreditation was because of community involvement.

?This has been a goal of our program for many years,? Marler said last week. ?We are very excited to be one of a select few programs in the nation to be recognized with this accreditation.?

Peabody Main Street Association is evaluated annually by the Kansas Main Street Program, which works in partnership with the national organization, he said.

?We congratulate Peabody Main Street Association for meeting our established performance standards,? said Doug Loescher, director of the National Trust Main Street Center in Washington, D.C.,

Founded in 1989, Peabody Main Street Association is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
