The Peabody Township Library board of directors has approved the formation of a Technology Advisory Com?mittee to watch over and advise the board on the expansion of technology at the public library.
The first members of the committee are Martin Sadow?sky, Debbie McSweeney, Dennis Riggs, McKenzie Ensminger and Zachary Preheim.
The first meeting will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, at the library. The committee will discuss an upcoming broadband town hall meeting hosted by North Central Kansas Lib?raries in the Peabody Township Library. State legislators have already been invited to attend.
The town hall meeting is tentatively planned for 6 p.m., Tuesday, March 6.
The TAC also will discuss expanding the current bandwidth available through the library. The library faces a serious broadband dilemma in the immediate future, according to Ridger Charles, director.
Currently the library operates all six computers on a dedicated line that provides only 1.45 mbps of bandwidth. State library standards call for a library of this size to provide at least 4 mbps.
Charles said he has already started collecting possible considerations from available bandwidth sources.
