Mother Nature was not going to rain on Saturday?s post-July 4 parade festivities in Peabody. Lisa Slater of Peabody was decked out in a patriotic costume, and was one of the more than 40 parade entrants. According to Tammy Whiteside, event coordinator, the winners in this year?s parade contest were the Peabody Historical Society in first place and Peabody Main Street Association in second. Even though turnout was low compared to traditional July 4 events, most spectators said they enjoyed the parade. The original date for Peabody?s annual celebration was postponed until last weekend because of inclement weather.
