Parkinson to announce summer travel promotions

Gov. Mark Parkinson will join state and local tourism officials for a press conference to celebrate National Tourism Week and announce summer promotions for the state?s Travel & Tourism Division and Visit Topeka Inc. at 11 a.m. May 12 at the Kansas Museum of History.

The Travel & Tourism Division will unveil its new Yellow Brick Road Trip program and Web site,, and give an overview of National Tourism Week activities in communities statewide.

The division will also highlight a new partnership with AAA, the nation?s leading non-profit automobile lobby and service organization.

Visit Topeka Inc. will announce its Topeka Treasure Hunt promotion.

The Kansas Museum of History is located at 6425 SW 6th Ave. In addition to Parkinson, news conference speakers include: Becky Blake, director, Travel & Tourism Division, Kansas Department of Commerce; Jim Hanni, executive vice president, AAA Kansas; Linda Briden, vice president of sales and marketing, Visit Topeka Inc.
