Melodrama part of Marion?s 150th celebration

As part of Marion?s Sesqui?centennial activities, the melodrama, ?The Ratcatcher?s Daughter or…Death Valley Daze,? will be presented at 7 p.m. Aug. 12 and 13 at the Marion Community Center in the city building, 208 E. Santa Fe.

Director Todd Guetersloh of Marion said this comedy takes place in an orphanage in Death Valley where it is so hot even the sand fleas have fled and wet blankets are steaming.

?The audience will be cheering for the hero, hissing the villain and laughing until they ache,? Guetersloh said.

All the actors are from the Marion area and include: Mary Griffith as Auntie Hush; Trisha Williamson as Death Valley Nell; Caroline Collett as Sweet Lotta Bliss; Isaac Guetersloh as Whip?lash Snivel; Colin Eurit as January; Sarah Guetersloh as February; Chris Killough as Cuspidor; Lisa Johnson as Lady Pilfer; Kathy Ehrlich as Lavinia Lagoon and Derek Stuchlik as Jack Sunshine.

Assisting the director is Janet Killough with Alex Eurit, pianist and Dick Varenhorst as the producer.

Tickets are $3 for adults and those under 12 will be admitted free with an adult.
