Meisinger hired as new city clerk for Marion

Marion has a new city clerk following action at a special meeting Monday.

After a 40-minute executive session, the Marion City Council voted unanimously to hire Alan Meisinger of Marion to the position currently occupied by Angela Lange, who has resigned.

Meisinger, a certified public accountant currently employed in McPherson with the firm of Adams, Brown, Beran and Ball, was selected from almost 30 applicants.

Meisinger?s conditional employment status as the new city clerk will end after Lange?s last day Friday, May 14.

Council members also held a special meeting late last week to begin reviewing the city clerk applications and determine the feasibility of having an assistant city clerk.

The council approved adding the new position and could take action at the Monday, May 17, regular meeting.

According to information about the city clerk?s position, Meisinger will be responsible for accounting, payroll and other computer-related duties.

The salary range was between $16 to $21 an hour.

Meisinger told council members he wanted a job closer to home and his family.

Lange, who submitted a letter of resignation about two weeks ago, will be moving to Newton.
